This Election, Americans Are Making Voting Something to Celebrate
August 31, 2026 — This November, a bipartisan coalition of veterans, faith leaders, and civic groups will turn voting into something worth celebrating.
Project HALO — a nonpartisan effort designed to help every voter feel safe, confident, and supported — announced today that veterans, faith leaders, legal professionals, and community members will come together in Georgia, Michigan, North Carolina, Ohio, and Pennsylvania for the 2026 midterms. From community events to a friendly presence near polling places, the coalition is built around a simple idea: when neighbors show up for one another, voting becomes a moment of connection and civic pride rather than a source of stress.
“Voting is one of the few things we do together as Americans,” said Chris Purdy, Army veteran and CEO of The Chamberlain Network. “We may cast our ballots differently, but we can still celebrate the fact that each of us gets a voice. That's what Project HALO is about — neighbors showing up for neighbors and making Election Day feel like the community event it should be.”
In Ohio, that means veterans and neighbors turning out together at the polls. “At a time when elections can too often feel defined by division, we wanted to give our community something different to show up for,” said Brandon Waithe, Air Force veteran and founder of the Buckeye Veterans Coalition. “When people see their neighbors welcoming them at the polls, voting starts to feel like what it should be — an act of belonging, not an ordeal to get through.”
Project HALO is working community by community this fall to help make voting an experience that reflects a shared American principle: every eligible voter has a voice, and participating in our democracy is something worth celebrating.
