Key Voting information for Ohio General Election

Key Dates 

  • September 18: Military & overseas absentee voting began  

  • October 5: Voter registration deadline (open until 9:00 p.m.)  

  • October 6: Absentee voting by mail & early in-person voting begins  

  • October 27: Last day to request an absentee ballot (must be received by your local board of elections by 8:30 p.m.)  

  • November 1: Last day for early in-person voting at your local Board of Elections (1:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.)

  • November 3: Primary Election Day (polls 6:30 a.m. – 7:30 p.m.); absentee ballots must be received by your local board of elections by 7:30 p.m.  

Voting Requirements 

  • Valid photo ID required: Ohio driver’s license, state ID, U.S. passport, military/VA ID  

  • Provisional ballots are available if ID or registration needs verification; you must visit your county Board of Elections within four days after Election Day.

  • Trusted community members who can show up with calm, care, and respect, including veterans, military families, faith leaders, legal professionals, local volunteers, and partner organizations.

  • Volunteers support community events, share trusted nonpartisan information, connect voters to official resources, and help create a positive environment around civic participation.

  • Project HALO volunteers do not campaign, interfere with voters, challenge eligibility, or act as security. The role is to support a safe, welcoming, and nonpartisan election environment.
